The legal limit in most if not all states in the USA is: .08
The formula for this is: ounces*percent * .075 /pounds - (hours*.015)
The Biggest variable is the .015 which according to some sources will
vary from individual to individual by as much as a factor of 2. Also
being well "trained" increases the livers conversion rate. I.E.
drinking a lot. One source says the elimination rate varies from .01 to
.04 g/dl (grams per deciliter of blood). This formula uses .015 g/dl.
The other variable .075 is supposed to vary by fat content which doesnt
have as much water content and therefore doesnt take part in the
dilution of the alcohol. Therefore many of these formulas have a
different constant here for women. .075 for men and .090 for women.
Which basically means women have a higher fat content and get drunk
faster.
